It seems fitting that Skanska’s largest project in the U.S. is set to be one of the main facilities to supply 10 percent of New York City with its drinking water. Upon completion, the Croton Water Filtration Plant, will have the capacity to treat 1.2 million cubic meters of water per day. Skanska is accountable for the concrete installation work, including the construction of the facility four stories beneath the Mosholu golf course in the Bronx.

Constructing the project

Skanska's role involves the construction of the structure, installation of machinery, piping and control equipment. The project is a turnkey delivery and Skanska will also be responsible for start-up and commissioning of the facility.

Benefits for the community

The new plant will improve the quality of drinking water for New York City residents. Currently, water in New York City is minimally treated.
