The Helsinki Olympic Stadium

  • The Helsinki Olympic Stadium has being renovated into a multifunctional and versatile event arena that will serve its future users as a state of the art stage for both significant sport and memorable culture events.

Refurbishment and renewal of The Helsinki Olympic Stadium

The Helsinki Olympic Stadium is a masterpiece of functionalist architecture, and much more; the renewed and refurbished Stadium now has an even larger offer of feelings to share and experiences to gain.

The Stadium reopens after an extensive refurbishment and renewal project. The work has been done respecting the original architecture, making sustainable choices and fostering the old, genuine and warm atmosphere.

To meet the requirements of today’s national and international events and to serve the Helsinki inhabitants and visitors more comprehensively all year round, the Stadium has been extended by adding a level of underground facilities.

The total square footage of the construction site, bleachers included, is around 90 000 square meters.

The Helsinki Olympic Stadium renovation has been executed through a cooperative project management model in which Skanska is the main contractor.

Designing and building functional spaces for sports and leisure is a strong suit for Skanska. The Skanska team behind the construction comprises of experienced professionals who have previously worked with the Hartwall Arena and the Telia 5G Arena (originally called Töölö football stadium and later on Finnair Stadium and Sonera Stadium) in Helsinki.
