Skanska provided preconstruction and construction management services” for a three-story surgery expansion and renovation and a new three-story children’s emergency and inpatient services addition. The phased construction of these projects allowed all current hospital operations to remain fully operational. The surgery expansion entails multi-phased additions and renovations to expand surgery, PACU, endoscopy and central sterile; relocate materials management and pharmacy; and create a new loading dock. The new Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center houses an eight-room pediatric Emergency Department, a new children’s services entrance and lobby, a 12-bed pediatric med/surg unit with four observation beds and shelled space for future obstetrics rooms and a well-baby nursery. Also included in this project is a new 6,000-SF freestanding central energy plant to support the new Children’s addition.
