Last Thursday the office industry celebrated one of its most important events: the Office of the Year Awards. Skanska’s latest completed project, Nordic Light, was honored during the gala held at the Castle Garden Bazaar in Budapest, winning the Green Property Project of the Year Award.

Nordic Light, the most recent real estate development in the Váci Corridor in Budapest, was officially opened in December 2016. Its exciting LED light façade made of 3D glass lames, representing the natural phenomenon of the Northern Light but also its various sustainable and innovative features make this project unique.

“We are grateful to receive the Green Property Project of the Year Award for Nordic Light office complex. Our mission is not only to develop office buildings, but to do this in an environmental friendly way, with a big commitment to energy-efficiency and innovative solutions. We have dedicated teams specialized in sustainability in continuous research and development for the most futureproof solutions to be applied in our projects” says Marcin Łapiński, Skanska Property Hungary & Romania Managing Director.

Last night’s award is the 3rd prize for Nordic Light project – in the last few months it was honoured by The City of the Future Program and won the Leading Green Building Development & Developer category of Construction and Investment Journal Awards Hungary 2016. The “A” class office building has acquired LEED Gold certification and complied with the sustainability criteria of the international green building rating system with a remarkably high score. Concurrently with construction, the building’s immediate vicinity was also refurbished. The passageway connecting Váci út and Visegrádi utca creates a pleasant, but at the same time exciting environment for the tenants and the public as well.
