Skanska was the construction manager at risk on this unique safety complex. The 26,000 square foot complex is one of only a few in the State of Florida that provides a dual function to accommodate both the police and fire departments who work closely together under the same roof to serve the citizens of their community. The complex houses the Daytona Beach Shores Chief of Police and Fire Marshall and their corresponding officers and administrative staff. This multi-faceted complex includes a secure retention/holding area for prisoners, a day room, bunker gear storage, and fire truck bays. The facility is also utilized as a public shelter in the event of severe weather such as hurricanes. This is the first new facility provided for these brave men and women in more than 30 years. The original facility was only one quarter of the size of the new building with not enough room for the department to function comfortably.
